MArc Smits

AMOUNT RAISED: $3,703.94

Marc Smits is 35 years old and lives in Dordrecht, the Netherlands, though originally he is from Limburg, close to the German border. Marc works for PortoMotive as an ict-supportdesk manager. PortoMotive is part of the ASN groep, a Dutch network of car repair shop companies. Prior to joining PortoMotive, Marc worked for the Netherlands house for Education and Research in Brussels for 5 years. He graduated from Arnhem University in 2001 where he studied Automotive Engineering. Currently, he is finishing the master Innovation Sciences at the Eindhoven University of Technology.

Marc started running more than 10 years ago and gradually ran more every year. He met his running mate Sebastiaan in 2009 in Brussels, and together they ran their first New York marathon in that same year. The two have been competing for the fastest times, but when running the same race they support each other as they strive to achieve their common goals. And that is what they will be doing in November: Run their second New York marathon together for their common goal: raising money for the SWCRF, while commemorating and supporting loved ones who have been lost to or affected by cancer.

Marc is very excited to represent the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation this year and hopes to run one hour faster than in his first attempt (which means a time of 3:29:59h!)

Marc would like to thank the following donors:

Noel and Elisabeth Brousseau-Smits

Joseph, Blanc and Derrick DeGobbi

Mark, Monique and Alex Hermeling
