LADIES WHO LUNCH FOR A CURE SHOWCASES

NICOLE MILLER FASHIONS

TO RAISE FUNDS FOR CANCER RESEARCH.

 

 

Some of New York City’s most prominent and charitable women turned out to support research funded by the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation (SWCRF) on May 6 at the inaugural Ladies Who Lunch for a Cure benefit luncheon and fashion show. Held at the home of SWCRF board member Dena K. Weiner and David Rozenholc, the chic event featured an exclusive fashion presentation of designer Nicole Miller’s Spring/Summer 2014 collection.

“We are honored that Nicole Miller accepted our invitation to be the first celebrated fashion designer to launch this event series.  Not only did her support draw attention to our cause, it also added to our fundraising efforts,” said Dr. Samuel Waxman, Founder and CEO of the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation. “Support for cancer researchers has been dramatically cut by the Federal government.  Therefore it has been left to philanthropic organizations to find private resources and creative ways to sustain the work of their institutions. We anticipate ‘Ladies Who Lunch for a Cure’ will be one of many such events in the coming years to augment our funding efforts.”

Nicole Miller, who expressed her delight at being selected the first designer to be showcased by the fundraiser, pointed out that Dena K. Weiner’s home was a perfect background for the affair since its elegant design perfectly complemented her collection’s Versailles theme.

“This beautiful home could not have been more picture-perfect to present my fashions,” said Miller. “It seamlessly set the stage for my collection with its beautiful interior.”  


The Versailles theme was further conveyed by a pair of violinists whose beautiful music enhanced the  mood of the presentation, which was attended by guests such as Ruth Finley, SWCRF board member Dale Claman, Jean Shafiroff, Randy Schatz and Ramona Singer of Bravo’s hit series “The Real Housewives of New York City,” among many others.

The event committee included Chairperson Pamela MorganChris Arlotta, Maria Elena Christiansen, Christina Desimone, Bonnie Pfeifer Evans, Lucia Hwong Gordon, Adrienne Kantor, Suzan Kremer, Cassandra Seidenfeld Lyster, Jennifer Myles, Chau-Giang Thi Nguyen, Paola Bacchini Rosenshein, Linda Shapiro, Bettina Waxman, Marion Waxman, Dena K. Weiner, Andrea Wernick and Marcy Whitman.

 

The luncheon was catered by CxRA, whose founder and Senior V.P. of Culinary Services Tim McLaughlin created the menu and oversaw preparation of his delicious creations.  A selection of fine wines was provided by Palm Bay International.  The diverse selection of fun and stylish raffle items included dinner at Aretzky’s Patroon, Arlotta Cashmere robe and slippers, Botkier Handbag, Brooks Brothers leather attaché, Dolce & Gabbana clutch from Collette, award-winning wines from Palm Bay International, and a unique necklace from Marlene Brown Fine Jewelry.
