New York City—Eight members of Team Waxman ran in the ING New York City Marathon on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011. Through their fundraising efforts, the runners were able to raise more than $36,000.
This year's team included two runners from last year, Jim Harrington and Gabe Rose. The other members of the team included: Sebastiaan Den Bak, Eli Lee, Allen Royce, Marc Smits, Sandra Wechsler and Joshua Whitcraft.
Den Bak and Smits arrived from the Netherlands to run in the race and Lee and Wechsler flew in from New Mexico.
"We are so proud of the members of Team Waxman who ran the grueling 26-mile course through the five boroughs of New York City," said Gwen Darien, the Executive Director of the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation. "We are grateful to our runners for their hard work in training and in fundraising. Their efforts will help support the critical work of our funded investigators to bring less toxic treatments to patients and faster cures."
