The Millennial Society Raises Nearly $18,000 Through Music For a Cure
NEW YORK—On Tuesday, Aug. 23, the Millennial Society of the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation hosted Music for a Cure at City Winery in New York City. More than 200 of the city's young professionals came out in support of the event, nearly $18,000. The evening, which featured a variety of local musicians, including Casey Shea, Emma, Lenka, Pearl and the Beard, and Robbie Gil raised awareness about the Waxman Foundation and the Millennial Society. Proceeds from the night went toward supporting the Society's goal to fund a research grant in young adult cancers. To date, the Millennial Society has raised more than $185,000 of its $200,000 goal.
"I'm proud of the Millennial Society's dedication and commitment to the innovative science supported by the Waxman Foundation. Our members have worked so hard to help further research and improve treatment options for young adults facing cancer," said Alissa Jacob, the chair of the Millennial Society.
The sponsors for Music for a Cure included Avenue Capital, Shea and Gary Jacob and OfficeLinks.
