Research
Targeting C/EBP:NF-kB Interaction to Induce Apoptosis in Cancer
Impact
To identify a novel drug that will prevent the interaction between two proteins to induce cancer cells to die.
Summary of Research
C/EBP and NF-kB are two proteins that together activate the expression of genes that protect cancer cells from death. Our research seeks to validate the idea that interfering with their interaction will cause cancer cells to die, to find out exactly which parts of these proteins contact each other, and to use drug screens and computer modeling to identify candidate drugs that interfere with contact between C/EBP and NF-kB. We believe that novel drugs we identify will assist in the treatment of many types of cancer, including breast cancer, prostate cancer, leukemias, and lymphomas. |
