Scientific Director - Dr. Samuel Waxman
Dr. Samuel Waxman is an oncologist/hematologist and research scientist. A
valued member of Mount Sinai's faculty for over 30 years, Dr. Waxman is a Distinguished Service Professor and Professor of Medicine. He currently holds
a variety of positions, including, Honorary Professor and Co-Director of the
Center of Differentiation Therapy at Shanghai Second Medical University, and
Director, Rochelle Belfer Chemotherapy Foundation Laboratory in the Division
of Hematology-Oncology at The Mount Sinai Medical Center.
Dr. Waxman has authored hundreds of scientific papers and was among the first
to study differentiation as a cancer therapy. He has also written chapters in
textbooks on hematology, chemotherapy and nutrition, a series of books
entitled Differentiation Therapy, and another called The Leukemia Cell.
Dr. Waxman helped found the International Conference on the Differentiation
Therapy of Cancer, which brings together researchers from around the globe
every two years.
In 1975, Dr. Waxman established the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation,
where he still serves as Scientific Director.
