Fashionably Charitable Benefit
Friday, February 1, 2008
In an intimate loft near Chinatown, SWCRF’s Millennial Society hosted the ultimate fashion week charity soiree. More than 200 spirited young professionals at Fashionably Charitable grooved to a cool DJ, munched on gourmet goodies and toasted each other all night. They bid on designer clothes and accessories, jewelry, trips, etc. in a silent auction and a raffle.
The Millennial Society is a network of young, creative, intellectually agile independent thinkers who are leaders in their fields. “It is our duty to lead lives of leadership and service, but we don’t see why that shouldn’t be fun.”

Dormancy in Breast Cancer with Dr. Samuel Waxman
Monday, December 3, 2007
Why do some breast cancer tumors metastasize while others do not? Why do some tumors remain dormant in spite of traveling through the bloodstream or lymphatic system to distant organs? And why do some breast cancer tumors that are localized become metastatic? Dr. Samuel Waxman, Scientific Director of the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation and Distinguished Service Professor, Mount Sinai School of Medicine will discuss his research on what keeps some breast cancer cells dormant and what wakes them up 10 to 20 years after initial diagnosis. And can we stop this process?
Please contact swcrf@waxmancancer.org for a CD of the speech.
